The Town Hall

Rotherham

Recently, a number of cosmetic projects have been completed in Rotherham, resulting in a vibrant, new town centre. All Saints Square was renovated in 2000 and in 2004 the Church of All Saints which is situated in the square, was given Minster status. Centenary Market also benefitted from the developments, alongside the revitalisation of the historic canal side. But it’s not just a dynamic town centre and shopping area that Rotherham has to offer; with attractions, parks and even two theatres, there is something to suit every taste in this lively northern town. Just five minutes away from the town centre lays Clifton Park, a 56 acre site surrounding the record breaking Clifton Park Museum. One of the most modern museums in the country, Clifton Park features many exhibits including 'Nelson the Lion' and the 'Rhinoceros Vase', the first ever porcelain vase cast in one piece. Alternatively, try a day out at Rotherham’s largest country park; Rother Valley. Here you can try your hand at a variety of watersports, have a go at archery or simply cycle round the beautiful central lake. The kids will love exploring ‘PlayDales’ – a safe, manned play area with scramble nets, rope bridges and even a climbing wall. Refreshments and toilets are available in the Visitors Centre, which is situated in a converted 18th Century mill. If it’s an indoor activity that you require, look no further than Magna; the UK’s first science adventure centre and a ‘must see’ in Rotherham. Based around the 4 elements (earth, air, water and fire) children and adults alike will delight in travelling through the 4 adventure pavilions. Whether you are whizzing around in Air's gyroscopic chair or taking control of Earth's genuine JCB digger, a fun day is guaranteed for everyone! After all of this exhilaration, visitors can replenish their energy levels with a bite to eat in the ‘Fuel Restaurant’ or bring their own picnics to enjoy in the designated picnic areas. Rotherham has a central location making it easy to reach from most places in the UK, with excellent rail services and road links off the M1 motorway.
