Home > Malton | Not just a busy market town; Brewing beer was once a big industry in Malton, at one time 9 breweries all worked below the main street, now just one remains. ‘Malton Brewery Company’ is part of Suddabys Crown Hotel and puts on a beer festival in mid July for 4 days. To help settle the stomach Fish and Chip shops provide excellent holiday food and the Thai, Mexican, Indian and Italian restaurants are often busy so booking is advised. Most of the Pubs in Malton offer bed and breakfast and guest houses range from budget to luxury. Accommodation in the Hotels is competitively priced, and offer B and B. Self catering apartments include converted barns and farmhouses surrounded by endless fields, just outside Malton. |  |
| The Palace Cinema offers recently released films, with a special offer price on Mondays. The Derwent Swimming pool is great for kids and Malton and Norton Golf Club offers lessons and is open all year round, weather permitting. Malton is famous for its horse-racing with many stables close to the town. |
| Attractions located just outside of Malon include: 'Flamingo Land Theme Park, Zoo and Holiday Village’ , Eden Camp History Museum, a World War 2 Prisoner of War Camp and the roman fort ‘Derventio’, which lies in between Old Malton and New Malton. Six miles north of Malton in the Wolds is where the church of Wharrum Percy and the village remains can be found. The village was deserted following the Black Death in 1310. Malton Museum is great for those wanting to find out more about the roman fort, it is located in the Town Hall. |  |
 | Home of 'Brideshead Revisited' Castle Howard is 6 miles from Malton. The House is open to the public during the summer whilst the grounds and gardens are open all year round. The Last Night of the Proms is held here and is a huge hit every summer in mid August with spectacular fireworks that can be seen for miles. The magnificent ruins of Kirkham Priory near Huttons Ambo run alongside the River Derwent, south of Malton. Around the area are many walks through pretty villages and the Howardian Hills (an area of outstanding natural beauty). Malton is easily accessible by car from the A64 from York and Scarborough. Its rail links means York is only ½ hr ride on the train, and Leeds is only 1 hr away; perfect for the shopaholics and those wanting to delve more into the Yorkshire history! |
