Guisborough offers a lot to the visitor, not only the magnificent Priory, but also shopping in the town. In Westgate is the Museum, which showcases the social, agricultural and commercial history of Guisborough town.
For the active there is the Guisborough walkway which follows a route to Roseberry Topping, and there are also many paths for the cycling enthusiast. Tocketts Mill is a fully restored water-driven corn mill and a Grade II listed building. It is one of the most complete mills in the country and is open every Sunday to the public, at a small charge. Great Ayton, less than 5 miles away is the chilhood place of Captain James Cook and has museums here showcasing his history and achievements.
Hotels, Bed and Breakfasts, Guest houses and holiday cottages are all welcoming places to stay in Guisborough. With the wonderful scenery and being a gateway to the North Yorkshire Moors, there is a tranquil ambience about this town. Located on the A171 north west of Whitby and South of Middlesbrough, it has great road links.
