Goathland

Home > Goathland

Famously known as Heartbeat’s Aidensfield, visitors come here everyday to see if they can catch a glimpse of one of the stars. The pub, garage and village shop are readily recognisable. The station has also been used to represent Hogwarts Station in ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone’.
GoathlandBeing a central point in the North York Moors, there are stunning walks in any direction you turn. Waterfalls are in their abundance here too, the most well known being the Mallyan Spout, Water Ark and Thomason Foss. Country houses, farms, and cottages all provide accommodation, most offer bed and breakfast while some are self-catering holiday cottages. Guest houses are located in the village, where you can watch the farmers herding his sheep up, for them only to return and wonder around again!
Goathland is a stop on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway(www.northyorkshiremoorsrailway.com). The steam trains begin at Pickering and end at Grosmont. During the summer, special steam trains run between Pickering and Whitby. By car Goathland is only 9 miles south west of Whitby and 14 miles north of Pickering, on the A169. Whitby and Pickering offer many tourist attractions-The Captain Cook Museum, Whitby Gothic Weekend, The Beck Isle Museum and Eden Camp.
