We stayed in a riverside lodge (Studley) for a week. We found the lodge to be spacious, clean and very comfortable. The hottub was fantastic and was checked and maintained by the owner on a daily basis. The location could not have been better with the lodge backing onto the river bank. A typical day for us was to venture out to the Dales, Moors and other places to numourous to mention, then back to the lodge and get ready and walk into Ripon for a meal in one of Ripons many very good restaurants, then back to the lodge which was a 10 minute walk from the city center, but once you were back at the lodge park you could have been in the middle of nowhere it is so peaceful, then into the hottub to relax and enjoy a nice bottle of wine by the river. We have booked again for next year and are hoping to get back in December.

The lodge we holidayed in (Hornblower) was for 4 people and was spacious and relaxing with a nice holiday feel. We took our teenage children and we all had a really relaxing week. The hot tub is a must for this type of holiday and was great, rain or shine, anytime of day. The City of Ripon is nearby and there are supermarkets, pubs, restaurants and shops which is good since these are not supplied on site. The local leisure centre was ideal, if you have a car, for booking sports courts etc. The fenced off garden area was private and added to the overall holiday enjoyment. The overhanging verandah area was lovely and allowed the table and chairs to be used no matter the weather. Some windows were overlooked and the fence could be seen through but this did not detract in anyway from the pleasant relaxing holiday. In fact, we did not actually meet anyone else holidaying in this small park all week apart from a few folks walking past. The weather was wet all week and although we did go lots of nice walks in nice scenery we didn't venture as far a field as we had hoped. If you like old buildings then do visit the Cathedral. We took loads of DVDs to watch and the owners had thoughtfully left some board games. There are a few things in the lodge which could do with fixing
such as hinges on the cupboard doors, cover on the inside of the microwave and the four poster bed, although pretty, was really creaky and shaky. These were minor things and on balance the lodge and garden and especially the hot tub added up to a great holiday in a wet week. Overall the lodge was a nice place to stay, spacious and comfortable, there was even a small board and an iron and a drying rack for towels and there is a laundry on site which we did not know until we arrived. The owners maintained the hot tubs daily, which was very reassuring and I am sure if you had a problem they would be delighted to help. If you are looking for a holiday base for walking or visiting sites or just a relaxing pleasant lodge then this is ideal, especially the hot tub.
